Poem tribute to the Autonomous Region of Madeira

In a recent visit to Madeira Island and marked by images of the storm that hit this island on February 20,th, Dr Alberto Gomes Marques, Graduated in Economy and Social History, was gladly surprised with the quick recovery of the island, result of tenacity and courage of the people of Madeira. The Madeira Cultural Affairs Department (DRAC) will organise the first ever Madeira Organ Festival from the 15th to the 24th of October. This cultural initiative consists of a series of concerts taking place at important places of worship in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, namely the Sé Cathedral, College Church and the Church of São Pedro.(more)

Official Report from Regional Government of Madeira

After the recent storm that struck the Archipelago of Madeira on 20th February the Autonomous Region of Madeira returns to normal. The reconstruction works have taken place quite rapidly, both in Funchal city centre as well as in other affected municipalities (particularly Ribeira Brava municipality). The hotel industry of Madeira was not affected by the storms of the past weekend, and maintains all operation conditions safely. Hotel establishments are operational with all its facilities. Madeira International Airport well as Funchal’s Harbour are operational.
